Senior Systems Administrator | Melbourne CBD | Fixed Term Permanent Role

An exciting and a new opportunity is available for a Senior Systems Administrator within Victoria State Government to work in their Digital Operations and Technology Unit. This is a Fixed term permanent position with hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Systems necessary to support the client's technology operations and critical IT infrastructure.
  • Will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of client's Systems, ensuring their stability, security, and efficiency, as well as designing, managing, and participating in major projects including system upgrades, cloud migrations and new technologies.
  • Provide escalated 2nd and 3rd-level technical support, troubleshooting and fault rectification of issues relating to Systems and services.
  • Plan, deliver and report on the regular scheduled and proactive maintenance on Systems and Services.
  • Develop scripts to automate the deployment of resource stacks and associated configurations.
  • Continuously improve and develop IT knowledge and skills through training, proactive research and reading to understand IT trends, developments and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve end-to-end service issues.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Experience in a system engineering or systems operations role.
  • Strong technical skills in implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting Microsoft operating environments.
  • Expertise in the wider Microsoft technical stack including O365, Intune, Active Directory, Azure, etc.,
  • High level work experience in third-party systems that support security functions, monitoring, alerting and vulnerability scanning and patching.
  • Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines to achieve role expectations in a high-volume environment with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • In depth understanding of various operating systems, hardware, and network technologies, as well as an ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Experience in problem management and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working within a legal environment and a knowledge of Government processes advantageous but not essential.
  • Must have an Australian Driving license.
