Our Federal Government Client is seeking an APS6/ EL1 Senior Advisor, Cyber Security.

This is an ongoing/permanent engagement (depending on your preference), located at our client's Canberra office with flexible working arrangements.

As the Senior Advisor, Cyber Security, you will play a critical role in managing the Commission's cyber security and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) capability. You will work closely with the CIO and ICT Service Providers to ensure a safe and secure environment for the Commission's data assets.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Commission's cyber security and governance functions.
  • Provide security advice, create policies, and offer project support.
  • Collaborate with the Commission's ICT Service Providers and the PM&C Information Technology Security Advisor (ITSA).
  • Actively contribute to the Commission's strategic direction by developing and implementing cyber security and PSPF services.
  • Deliver cyber and PSPF projects, implement security strategies and roadmaps, and conduct ongoing reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with the Commission's Executive, business areas, and service providers.
  • Identify, manage, and report on cyber security risks and technical issues.
  • Manage key stakeholder and supplier relationships (both internal and external).
  • Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans, and monitor security systems.
  • Participate in ICT-related procurement and contract management related to cyber and PSPF security.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices in ICT and Cyber Security.
  • Prepare complex reports, submissions, and proposals related to the Commission's cyber security activities.

  • Cyber security experience in a similar role (ITSA, IT Security Advisor, etc.) with a strong understanding of cyber security management and IT environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting and implementing government cyber policies and standards (PSPF and Information Security Manual).
  • Experience in identifying, evaluating, and articulating technical risk in an enterprise environment.

A plus if you have:

  • Relevant qualifications in Information Technology and/or Cyber Security disciplines.
  • Industry Certification in Cyber, Security, or other ICT-related roles.

Security Clearance Required:

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance or the ability to obtain it.
