Radio Communications Technician (Leaky Feeders)

  • 6 month contract with underground mine site based in the NT (8:6 FIFO roster)
  • Seeking Leaky Feeder, 2 way radio, VHF & UHF Systems
  • Open to Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane and Perth based candidates


About the company:
A leading mining client with global operations that has been established for over a century.

The role:
We are seeking an experienced Radio Communications Technician possessing experience with Leaky Feeder, 2 way Radio Systems, VHF & UHF Systems. This is for an initial 6 month contract on an 8:6 FIFO (Tues to Tues) roster based at the client's Northern Territory underground mine site operations.

Responsibilities include:
Conduct communication infrastructure maintenance and installation tasks.
Ensure maintenance and installation tasks comply to standards.
Assist in the commissioning and start-up of new installations.
Act as a technical mentor to junior personnel, providing guidance and support.
Implement minor software/hardware/graphic interface changes as directed.
Collaborate with supervisors and vendors to develop solutions and resolve complex communications problems.

Key experience:
Proficiency in VHF & UHF Systems, Leaky Feeder, 2 way Radio System, PED, Cap lamps, MST Vehicle Proximity Systems, fibre optic splicing and commissioning, CCTV and IP Network planning and configuration.
Strong experience with mining communication software and hardware installation.
Trade Level qualifications in Communications Technician, Electronics Technician, or Electronic Systems Technician.
Open Cabler Registration with Structured, Optical Fibre, and Coaxial endorsements.
Attainment of Working at Heights and High-Risk Work Licence with Boom Type EWP endorsement.
Current Australian C class Driver's Licence.
Proficient in reading complex electrical drawings and possess sound computer skills.
