Our Federal Government Client is looking for an Applications Engineer.



We are seeking motivated individuals with experience in ICT who are keen to learn our Client's environment and fit into their team to deliver a professional operations capability, ensuring the security, maintenance, availability, and reliability of the Client's ICT platforms across both cloud and on-premises environments. The section role directly supports the Chief Information and Digital Officer in achieving quality outcomes efficiently and in accordance with best practice public sector ICT and digital service delivery, working across the branch



The Applications Support Officer role is a high performing engineering role within the ICT Platform Services and Support Section. The application services currently supported and delivered by the section are predominately underpinned by Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premise), SharePoint(on-prem), Intelledox Infiniti, and the .Net framework with some residual bespoke legacy applications in the environment. You will contribute to the enhancement, maintenance and support of applications and services by maintaining the technology platforms (including upgrades, patching and other sustainment activities) and providing support to varying stakeholders across the agency.



As the Applications Support Officer you will be expected to:

  • Enhance and optimise existing applications and services, resulting from a combination of business and ICT led initiatives.
  • Plan, schedule and implement routine maintenance activities, including upgrades and other updates.
  • Develop and maintain documentation relating to the configuration of and dependencies between applications and services.
  • Monitor applications and services to identify and respond to issues.
  • Supporting the agency's use of the applications and services. There is likely to be an end-user training component to this role.
  • Undertake other relevant duties, as guided by the team lead or section manager. You will be a strong advocate of Security-first solutions and best working practices within the ICT environment.



This role will suite an individual who has a strong infrastructure background and has a willingness to develop core skill within the Microsoft Azure Cloud ecosystem.



Mandatory requirements:

  • Information Technology related tertiary qualifications (or equivalent vendor certifications).
  • Willingness to learn and develop core skill within the Microsoft Azure Cloud ecosystem.
  • At least 10 years' experience in the following:
    • Proven experience and detailed operational knowledge of the following server-based applications/services:
      • → Microsoft Dynamics CRM
      • → Intelledox Infiniti
      • → SharePoint
      • → .Net applications and services
      • → Azure technologies



Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience in developing, implementing, and managing solutions within Federal Commonwealth Government departments or as an embedded resource from an MSP.
  • Australian Government Information Security Manual and application in a federal government context.
  • Strong desire and ability to learn and apply new knowledge and techniques.
  • Development and maintenance of documentation and procedures.
  • End user support and training.



The role has an initial 12-month contract with possible extension. The Client may extend the term of the work order, as deemed necessary to a maximum of 36months from start date. The Client has hybrid working arrangements in place. Expectation is three days working in office and two days remote. Their in-office collaboration days are Wednesday and Thursday. Whilst onboarding and training is undertaken, you may be requested to attend the office full-time.



Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens who have active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance.
