Our Federal Government Client is seeking an Advisor, ICT Contracts and Procurement.

This is a long-term contract for 12 months with 1 extension of 6 months, located at our client's ACT office. Australian interstate or regional candidates will be considered but should factor in the requirement to attend on-site as directed at their own cost.

As the selected candidate, you will:

  • Establish and maintain Effective Licensing Positions (ELPs) that reconcile licence entitlements against licence consumption across the organisation's software portfolio.
  • Lead and conduct software audits, including licence true-ups for major software suppliers such as Microsoft and Adobe.
  • Ensure the client remains compliant with its licensing obligations while minimising unnecessary licence costs.
  • Manage software-related contracts, lead new software procurements, and negotiate software renewals (including SaaS and other Cloud technologies).
  • Coordinate licence re-harvesting exercises, highlighting and recording any savings.
  • Assist in managing the client's software budget, highlighting and avoiding unnecessary spending.
  • Keep up to date with new software products and amendments to licence terms and conditions.
  • Assist and/or backfill other members of the ICT Contracts team with the procurement and contract management of general ICT equipment and services.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Government Financial Framework, including the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and their application.
  • Experience managing complex procurements in a government setting, including approvals, requirements gathering, evaluation, negotiations, and contract closure.
  • Experience providing specialist procurement and contract management advice.
  • Ability to manage complex relationships and drive performance of 3rd party suppliers.
  • Well-developed written and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with government buying processes.

It is desirable if you have:

  • Experience managing licensing for key strategic vendors such as Microsoft (including enterprise and volume licensing) and Adobe.
  • Experience in managing and supporting internal and external audits, including providing ELPs, true-ups, and other general data analysis.
  • Experience managing Cloud licensing, technologies, and services.
  • Experience working with budgets, specifically around license forecasting and ongoing spend reporting.
  • Experience in optimization for software licences, minimizing associated spending whilst remaining compliant.
  • Experience managing and maintaining a Software Portfolio, including allowed and denied applications.
  • ITIL Foundation v3/v4.
  • Certified Software Asset Management Certificate.
  • An understanding of Project Management methodology (e.g. Prince2 and APM) and delivery methods (e.g. Agile and Waterfall).
  • Experience in IT Management, business administration, contract/commercial law, or another related discipline.
